Hello Friends!
It has been a while. Between having a full time job and a young family, I have not been finding the time to work on personal art projects.
And my heart is broken with the horrific situation in Palestine, DR Congo and South Sudan. I have dedicated my only active social media to speak up against genocide, therefore I have not been promoting my art anywhere. It feels disrespectful to ask anyone to support my artwork when we all should be supporting those in need.
But despise it all, when a bit of inspiration hits, I been filling the pages of my sketchbook. I am particularly inspired by the beautiful connection the Palestinians have with the ancestral land and their olives trees.
I love the mix media sketches I been creating lately, and I been shinning away from digital art. I feel the need to paint but its difficult to find the time. Finally I got my acrylics out today and what a mess!
Loose impressionistic strokes is a skill and I am out of touch. Still I am happy that I created the time for my practice, and the space within me to feel creative, inspired and connected with the people of Palestine.
Over the years I been educating myself about the situation in Palestine, but I now realise how little I know about Congo and Sudan. And the more I learn, the more I understand how the taxes we pay and the products we buy makes us all complicit in these crimes against humanity.
Never Again Means Never Again for Everyone.
Sometimes I feel powerless, but then I remember that our action and intentions are meaningful no matter how small. So educate yourself, speak up and show solidarity!
